Who We Work With

We are lucky to work in the beautiful Surrey Hills and tucked away within these hills are a number of stunning natural burial grounds, crematoria and cemeteries to choose from right on our door step. Below are a list of the individuals and organisations that we work alongside who help us, help you to create the perfect send off for your loved one.

Funeral Flowers

When it comes to floral tributes we have a wonderful local florist who provides beautiful  sustainable creations to adorn our coffins. All of Claire’s https://www.plantpassion.co.uk/  flowers are seasonally grown and if flowers are not in season, she is able to offer dried creations that she harvested in the summer months for use during the winter.

However, if you are a keen gardener or if you know someone who is, then why not have some of your own.

Catering

When arranging a funeral or memorial it is important to consider the whole day. This may involve some kind of refreshments for your family and friends. In Dorking we have a number of local caterers we can recommend depending on your needs.  Whether it’s a quick cuppa and few sandwiches or a sit down meal, we are able to point you in the right direction. Just let us know and we can help.

Wake

wake venue

For your wake we recommend “ The Plough Inn” at Coldharbour.

The Plough at Coldharbour is an 18th century country Pub with rooms, its own brewery and village shop. Much loved by locals, cyclists and walkers due to its location, settled in the heart of the Surrey Hills, an area of outstanding natural beauty. Just ten minutes from Dorking, and around twenty minutes from Horsham, Reigate, Crawley and Leatherhead the Plough is an ideal location for any function.

Our stand alone converted Barn is ideal for intimate gatherings and we can tailor your event to suit any budget, whether it’s a cuppa and a slice of cake, beer and sandwiches or something more decadent like a four course meal. We offer the barn on an exclusive hire basis any time of the day. It sits separately from the Pub with its own entrance ensuring maximum privacy for guests.

Its seats up to 35 in a more formal table arrangement or up to 50 with less formal buffet style service. We can usually dress the room to suit any occasion with enough notice and use local suppliers where possible.

For those travelling a bit further we can offer six tastefully furnished rooms all with en-suite bathrooms and breakfast included. We have seasonal food and we deal with local business. We offer a private parking for our customer.

Coldharbour is a hamlet in the Mole Valley district, in the English county of Surrey. It is on a minor road from Dorking to Leith Hill Place. It is on the centre of the Surrey Hills AONB. If you want to go for a walk you can visit Leith Hill Tower , which is at few kilometres of distance from the Plough inn,and admire this outstanding nature and history around us.

The tower was built in 1765 by Richard Hull as a place for people to enjoy the ‘glory of the English countryside’.There’s a whole host of wonderful walking trails to follow .

For everyone that decide to have the Wake at The Plough Inn , we offer the 20% off regarding Foodand 10% off regarding drinks until March 2022 and there will be no charge for the barn/private room to hire.

Burial Grounds

The nearest Natural Burial Ground to us in Dorking is Clandon Wood Natural Burial Ground. Set in 31 acres of a mix of meadowland and newly planted trees blending the woodlands and grasslands together. Through considered management of the graves and the wider site, they strive to conserve this valuable mix of habitats year after year.

Another beautiful natural burial site is Woodland Burials at Shamley Green, where their Woodland of remembrance provides a setting that will become a natural woodland in a scheme accredited by the Wildlife Trust.  Both places are run by passionate teams of people who care for the land and want a greener solution to funeral services.

There are other natural burial grounds further afield which you can find here. Please do get in touch to discuss any of these options.
